Independent Study Agreements

An Independent Study Agreement may be approved (with at least 5 days prior notice) with the front office in advance if you will be out of school for a mini-mum of five (5) school days.

Early Departures
Recently, we have noticed many students being picked up early prior to the end of the day school bell. Students who are picked up early miss critical learning time. In addition, taking students out of school early disrupts the learning of the entire class as teachers have to stop their teaching and prepare the student for departure. Excessive early pick ups can not only impact a student’s learning, but can also result in an attendance con-tract being developed the same way as excessive tardies and absences can. Also, please be advised that we will not call stu-dents out of class to be picked up early until the family arrives with the exception of PE as it takes longer locate students. Please assist us in providing a rigorous learning experience for your student by only picking up your child early when it is unavoidable and completely necessary.

Calling in Absences
It is essential for parents to contact the office when their child is going to be absent from school. The number is 619-825-5723, or the 24 hour attendance line at 619-825-5741. When calling outside of school hours please leave the child’s name, the reason for the absence and your name. If this is not possible, a signed note from a parent/guardian must be provided to the office on the day the student returns to school explaining the reason for the absence or an unexcused absence or truancy may be recorded.
